After breakfast, you enjoy a fully guided tour of the only city to span two continents, visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Hippodrome. Tonight you get to know your travelling companions a little better at your welcome dinner. Overnight Istanbul.
Today we visit the WWI battlefields of Gallipoli including Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair Memorials, ANZAC Cove, Johnston’s Jolly, original trenches and tunnels, The Nek and the Gallipoli Museum. Overnight Canakkale.
Step back in time today as we visit Troy and its famed Trojan Horse, followed by a tour of the magnificent acropolis of Pergamum. Its impressive temples and library made it a renowned cultural and political center in its time. Overnight Kusadasi.
Absorb yourself in history today with a guided tour of Ephesus and a visit to the site of the Temple of Artemis. Feel the mystical atmosphere of the ancient city and theatre before continuing to the house of the Virgin Mary. Carpet weaving has long traditions in Turkey and at the carpet village we learn how the carpets are made by hand and what determines their value. Overnight Kusadasi.
This morning we will enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods before heading to the magnificent white calcium terraces, known as Travertines, in Pamukkale where we also tour the ancient city of Hierapolis. Take a dip, amongst ancient columns, in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers. Overnight Marmaris.
Leaving Turkey, we will take early morning ferry to Rhodes which is known as the sunniest island in the Aegean. Overnight Rhodes.
Explore the largest island in the Dodecanese, an attractive mix of good beaches with plenty of sightseeing such as Temple of Aphrodite, Temple of Apollo. Overnight Rhodes.
Sluggishly rise from your island induced sleep and explore the old town before an afternoon ferry to Santorini. Overnight Santorini.
Take an optional boat trip in the world’s biggest volcanic crater above sea level. Visit the active volcano, swim in the warm thermal waters and take a therapeutic mud bath. Overnight Santorini.
Soak up the sun on the black sand beaches before we board an afternoon ferry to the mainland. Overnight Athens.
This morning you will have half day tour and visit Acropolis, stop at the stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held. Admire the Olympian Zeus and Hadrians Arch. At the Acropolis visit the museum, the towering entrance of Propylaia, the Temple of Nike and the most famous of Greek relics, the Parthenon. Overnight Athens.
After breakfast, we say goodbye to our new friends before being transferred to the airport.
