21st April : Arrival

Welcome to Turkey. Arrive in Istanbul Airport ( IST ) or to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport ( SAW ) , Our representative will meet you at the airport with your name sign and private transfer to the hotel for overnight stay in Istanbul.

 

22nd April: Istanbul full day tour (Breakfast)
Full day tour of Istanbul. Visit St. Sophia Church, one of the greatest marvels of architecture constructed as a basilica in 536 by Emperor Justinian; Blue Mosque, facing Hagia Sophia, famous with its more than 20.000 blue Iznik tiles and unique with its 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet in the 17th century, one of the best examples of classical Turkish art; Hippodrome, the scene of Byzantine chariot races, athletic events, victory celebrations, and political activities of the old city where one can also see today the “Obelisk of Theodosius” from Egypt, “Serpentine Column” from Delphi, the “German Fountain of Wilhelm II” and the “Colossus”. Topkapi Palace – Harem section is excluded; built in 1468 by Mehmet the Conqueror, the imperial residence of Ottoman sultans housing the souvenirs of 600 years and exhibiting imperial treasury, Chinese porcelains, weapons, calligraphy section, etc. Overnight in Istanbul.

 

23rd April: Istanbul (Breakfast)
Transfer to our private Boat for BOSPORUS CRUISE for a traditional excursion by boat along the waterway separating Europe and Asia. The shore is lined with old wooden villas, palaces of marble, fortresses, and small fishing villages. During the excursion you will pass the magnificent Dolmabahce Palace, and further along the parks and imperial pavilions of Yildiz Palace. Afternoon free time in Grand Bazaar, which is one of the most attractive shopping centers in the world with nearly 4000 shops built in 16th century Afternoon drive to Canakkale. Check into our 3 star hotel for 3 nights stay including dinner.

 

24th April : Istanbul – Gallipoli- Anzac Cove ( Breakfast and Dinner)
Drive to the World War I Battlefield of Gallipoli we will visit the Kabatepe War Museum, Anzac Cove, Hell Spit Cemetery, Lone Pine, The Nek, and Chunuk Bair War memorial. After the tour. Transfer back to hotel to relax. After dinner drive to Anzac Cove, tonight, soak up the vibrant atmosphere under the stars waiting for the break of dawn. Overnight at Dawn Service. Do not forget to get your breakfast box and your free-sleeping bags from your guide.

 

25th April ANZAC Day- Ayvalik (Breakfast box and Dinner)
Getting ready before sunrise for the ANZAC Dawn Service. We become aware of the almost deafening silence as we commemorate our fallen fore fathers on this special day.

Following the New Zealand service you will be picked up from either Lone Pine or Chunuk Bair and drive to our hotel in Canakkale .Dinner and overnight in Canakkale.

 

26th April: Ayvalik – Pergamum – Kusadasi (Breakfast and Dinner)
Drive to Pergamum (45 minutes distance) – see Asklepion, Zeus’s alter, the Red Bassilcia etc. Bergama is the site of the Hellenistic – and later Roman city of Pergamum, ruled for several centuries by a powerful local dynasty. Its foremost attraction is the Red Basilica, a huge edifice on the river not far from the acropolis, originally built as a temple to the Egyptian god Osiris and converted to a basilica by the early Christians, when it was one of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor addressed by St John in the book of Revelation – though sadly it’s now a crumbling ruin with a mosque in one of its towers. After our guided Pergamum tour we continue towards Kusadasi. On the way, we will visit a place which continues to perform one of the oldest arts of Turkey; a carpet weaving center, followed by an optional Turkish bath. After a good scrub down we will check-in your hotel in time for dinner.

 

27th April: Ephesus (Breakfast and dinner)
Visit to the ancient city of Ephesus. The Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived here for three years. This church also received an epistle from him. We tour the spectacular ruins where excavations still continue in this once great and important city, which was founded in the 10th century BC. Walking through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theatre. The Temple of Diana of the Ephesians, We visit the Ephesus archaeological museum. Lunch at a selected restaurant. Afternoon visit The House of Virgin Mary and continue to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.

 

28th April: Pamukkale & Hierapolis Tour (Breakfast and dinner)
At 8:30 we leave Kusadasi for Pamukkale (2.5 hours distance). We visit the “Cotton Castle” calcium terraces of Pamukkale and ancient Hierapolis, walking around this natural phenomenon gives you the option of lying in the waters of the natural springs that flow down the calcium terraces. Check-in your hotel in time for dinner and the rest of the evening is yours to explore the small village or relax around the swimming pool. Overnight in Pamukkale.

 

29th April: Pamukkale – Konya (4, 5 hours drive) (Breakfast and dinner)
Drive to Konya, visit to Mevlana Sufi temple. Mevlana is the founder of Sufism and whirling Dervishes. Visiting the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the world-wide famous mystic, proceed to Karatay Theological School in which beautiful tiles are on display. Overnight in Konya.

 

30th April: Konya – Cappadocia Tour (5 hours drive) (Breakfast)
Drive to Cappadocia. Visit to Sultanhani Caravanserai, roadside inn where travelers could rest and recover from the day’s journey. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information and people across a network of trade routes of Asia, North Africa and South-Eastern Europe on the legendary Silk Road and the Spice road. Overnight in Cappadocia.

 

1st May: Cappadocia Tour (Breakfast)
Optional : Hot air ballooning with sunrise, Once in a lifetime experience in Cappadocia
Tour to Kaymaklı Underground City, one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia. Soğanlı Valley, an Open Air Museum in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocian village with its different style Rock-Cut churches and frescoes. Villages in the valleys, surrounded by the “table top” mountains, are spectacular. Lunch and Visit to Sahinefendi newly discovered (01 May 2002) mosaic houses & Archaeological excavation site Continue with Keslik Monastery near Cemil that hides its frescoes behind a very thin smoke layer which we can only see by torch light. Our tour finishes with a visit to Mustafapaşa (Sinasos), an old Greek town with its spectacular old Greek houses; very fine examples of late Greek settlements and architecture. Overnight Cappadocia.

 

2nd May: Cappadocia Tour (Breakfast)
In the morning, first meeting with the lunar landscape of Cappadocia: rock formations beyond belief in Devrent valley; a journey in the past with its troglodyte houses, visit to Pasabag “fairy chimneys” where the voice of wind mixes with the “songs of fairies” near Zelve. Lunch in Avanos, center of terra cotta work of art since 3000 BC. and a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. Afternoon, visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum and see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings (10th to 13th century). Continue to Uchisar Rock-Castle to have a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Overnight Cappadocia.

 

3rd May: Cappadocia – Istanbul (Breakfast)
Transfer to Cappadocia airport and take the Turkish Airlines morning flight to Istanbul. Arrival and transfer to Hotel. Free afternoon for a last chance to complete your visits. Overnight Istanbul.

 

4th May: Home (Breakfast)

After breakfast check out from the hotel and private transfer to Istanbul Airport or to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen airport for your flight back home.
